Richard Charles Kintner

March 2, 1948 — August 16, 2024

Maryville

Richard Charles Kintner died on August 16, 2024, after a three-month decline in health. He was born March 2, 1948, in Elkhart IN, and was preceded in death by his parents, Elgin and Ethel Kintner, and sister, Johanna Bryant. He leaves the following family: sister Beccie King and husband Rufus, Maryville TN; sister Ella Brown and husband Tom, Van Wert OH; Steve McArthur, Missoula MT, a friend since kindergarten; long-time friend Paula Seman, Maryville TN.

A graduate of Maryville High School and College of the Ozarks, Richard was medically disabled and lived at Broadway Towers for 35 years. New Providence Presbyterian Church, Maryville TN, was his church home where he was baptized. On his sickest days, Richard received comfort in praying with a family member.

A born swimmer, Richard swam the length of the Green Meadow pool at age two, and as he grew, so did his hobbies. If it had four legs or four tires, it was for Richard. He sat tall in the saddle, riding and caring for his horses, and he loved motorboats and water skiing. Richard loved music, took violin lessons, and had a sharp eye for photography, but his proudest accomplishment was becoming an Eagle Scout. Friends remember Richard for his big heart and willingness to help those in need.

A celebration of his life will be held at New Providence Presbyterian Church on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Welcome Table or Boy Scout Troop 88, both at New Providence Presbyterian Church, 703 W. Broadway Ave, Maryville, TN 37801.
