KIDD, Rex Charles, age 91 of N. Wymore Road, Maitland, FL, died Thursday, February 7, 2002. Dr. Kidd was a lifelong educator. After attending Maryville College, he earned his Bachelor of Education degree at East Tennessee State College, his Masters in Education at Duke University, and his Doctor of Education degree at the University of Florida. During his teaching career he served as Supervising Principal of Citrus County Schools, Inverness, FL (1952-1957); and was Chair of the Department of Education, University of Tampa (1956-1958). Dr. Kidd was one of the founding faculty members of Broward Community College, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, teaching there from 1960 until his retirement in 1984. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a Presbyterian, and a member of Kiwanis. Dr. Kidd was born February 2, 1911 to Charles Alexander Kidd and Sarah Tennessee McReynolds Kidd, of Maryville, TN. In 1948, he married Linnie Lafel Grogan, with whom he had two sons, Reggie McReynolds Kidd and Randy Grogan Kidd. He is survived by his wife, his son Reggie, three grandsons, and a nephew, Frank Kidd of Maryville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow in Carpenters Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville, TN.
