Reverend Sterling Deloy Turner

The Reverend Sterling DeLoy Turner died April 26, 2008 at the age of 83. He is a retired minister and member of the United Methodist Church-Holston Conference and has served churches in Virginia and east Tennessee including his last appointment at First United Methodist Church, Maryville, TN. Reverend Turner served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and attended Tennessee Wesleyn College, East Tennessee State University and Duke Divinity School. He is survived by his wife Betty Swofford Turner, his son Sterling (Dee) Turner, daughters Ann Turner Kimsey of Atlanta, Ga and Carol (Paige) Turner of Nashville, TN.; granddaughter Hannah Turner of Maryville. A memorial service, conducted by Revs. Brenda and Larry Carroll, will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville, TN at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 4, 2008. The family will be available for visitors following the service at the church.
