Rev. John Christian Mcqueen, Jr.

John Christian McQueen, Jr., died on Saturday, October 24, 2009, in Lynchburg, VA at the age of 95 years old. He was born in Homer, Louisiana, December 12, 1913. He was graduated from Maryville College in 1934. After graduation from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1937, he was ordained a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and served five pastorates in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Alabama until his retirement in 1999. In February 1999, he was recognized with a Distinguished Service Award by the Maryville College Board of Directors. Prior to this award, he was honored by the Alumni Association of the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary as one of the distinguished alumni of the Seminary. Rev. McQueen is predeceased by his wife, Lillian Crawford McQueen and his daughter, Mary Christian McQueen Sinclair. He is survived by his daughter, Rochelle Rodd McQueen Tillapaugh, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Internment will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Grandview Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at New Providence Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Maryville College, 502 E. Lamar Alexander Pkwy., Maryville, TN 37804 or New Providence Presbyterian Church, 703 W. Broadway, Maryville, Tennessee 37801.
