Ray E. Robinson

Ray Edwin Robinson, age 75, of Walland, TN died on March 21, 2009 at UT Medical Center as the result of a traffic accident. He was a retired United Methodist minister in the Holston Conference serving for 50 years in the east Tennessee areas of Hixson, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Athens, Maryville, and Kingsport. He was preceded in death by his parents, JB and Joy Robinson. He is survived by Jane, his wife of 51 years; daughters, sons-in laws, and grandchildren: Joy and Bill Shultz, Katie, Blake, and Hannah of Birmingham, AL; Ann and Joe Leatherwood, Michelle and Christopher of Maryville. He is also survived by his sisters, Edith Moore, Betty Jo Householder, and Hazel Imes. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, Maryville at 6:00 pm, officiated by his pastors, the Reverends Larry and Brenda Carroll. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:30 and again following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 804 Montvale Station Road, Maryville, TN 37803. The family would like to make a booklet of “Ray stories” for the grandchildren and would love for anyone to contribute. Please send your stories to the family or to the church.
