Ralph Lea Ousley Sr.

January 7, 1919 — January 11, 2014

Ralph Lea Ousley, Sr. age 97 of Maryville, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Blount Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was a dedicated member of Alcoa First United Methodist Church. He served as past Worshipful Master at Rockford Masonic Lodge #469 F&AM. He also served as Past Patron of the Martha Washington Chapter #231, Order of the Eastern Star. He was a board member of Blount Country Farm Bureau. He served as a Master Sergeant in World War II in the Pacific Theater for 39 months. Mr. Ousley served in the Red Arrow Division (32nd Infantry Division). After the war he returned to Alcoa where he worked at the Aluminum Company of America and retired after 41 years of service. He was also a member of the ALCOA 25-Year Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Jacob Milus Ousley and Myrtle Longmire Ousley, and his son, Ralph Lea Ousley, Jr.; brothers, Roy and wife Dottie Ousley, Paul Ousley and first wife, Minnie Hutchens Ousley, and second wife, Maggie Dial Ousley Cook, and Earl Ousley; sisters, Ruth Ousley Higgins and husband, Tommy Higgins; Nelle Ousley Widner and husband, John Widner. Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Evelyn Holloway Ousley; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Larry and Darlene Ousley of Waynesville, NC; Dr. Ben Roy and Emily Ousley of Lawndale, NC; Rev. John W. and Dr. Lisa Ousley of Johnson City, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Janice Ousley Willocks and David Willocks of Lenoir City, TN; and daughter-in-law, Linda Ousley (Lea) of Clinton, TN; and his sister, Edna Ousley Hutchens of Maryville; grandchildren, Jamie Ousley, Jennifer Ousley, Karen Newsom, Randi Biggs, Chase Biggs, Loren Biggs, Benjamin Ralph Ousley, Carrie Richardson, Sarah Overman, Jonathan Willocks, Justin Willocks, Michael Lea Ousley, Mark Ousley, Justin Lineberry, and Austin Lineberry; and great-grandchildren, Henry, Paul, Chayton, Aya, Dakotah, Levi, Caroline, Gabriela, Noah, Alex, Ethan, Emma, Liam, Gavin, Avalina, Grant, Maria, Isabella, Wyatt, Noah, William Henry, Emmett. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Alcoa First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Page and Rev. Joe Green officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Building Fund at Alcoa FUMC, 617 Gilbert Street, Alcoa, TN 37701.
