Rachel M. Cummings Tipton

TIPTON, Rachel M. Cummings, age 95 of Rocky Branch, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2005. Mrs. Tipton was born on July 4, 1910 in Ellejoy, TN. She was the oldest member of the Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church and had been a resident of the community for 66 years. Mrs. Tipton was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by Hoyt Tipton, her husband of 43½ years; parents, D. F. and Anna Cummings; brother, Martin Cummings; sisters, Dorothy Tipton and Alma Underwood; daughter-in-law, Paulette Tipton and grandson, Tim Tipton. She is survived by five children, Ray Tipton of Jonesboro, GA, Lorena Crook (Richard) of Maryville, Len Tipton (Brenda) of Maryville, Edith Brown (Dick) of Winnetka, CA and Brenda Horton (Jerry Morrow) of Rocky Branch; 5 grandchildfren; 3 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one great great grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James McCulla and Rev. Tim Martin officiating. The interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
