Phyllis Ann Compton

Ms. Phyllis Ann Brewer Compton passed away on June 3, 2009, surrounded by friends and loved one’s at the home of her sister after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Phyllis lived in Friendsville, TN for many years. She also lived in Huntsville, AL for many years before returning to TN. She was a member of Friendsville High School class of 1959 where she was voted the most likely to succeed and the friendliest. She then attended East Tennessee State University where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She graduated from Athens State College in Athens, AL in 1995 with a degree in Business Administration. She was a former employee of the Proffitts Corporate office. She was then employed by Belks at Turkey Creek until recently. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude Lee Brewer and Margaret Keeble Brewer; also, brother-in-law, Claude E. Hicks, Jr. She is survived by sister, Barbara Hicks of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Terri) and Richard Heintzelman of Hazel Green, AL; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Robin Compton of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Chris Fanning and wife Theresa of Madison, AL, Wesley Fanning and wife Amber, Chase, Cody, Maggie, Lillie, Ella, Samuel and Jayne Heintzelman all of Hazel Green, AL, Corey Compton of New Hope, AL, Amanda and Savannah Weldon of Huntsville, AL; niece, Denise Moore of Maryville; nephew and spouse, Steve and Kelly Jones of Maryville; great nephew, Robby Moore of Maryville; great grandchildren, Alana and Justin Berg-Fanning and Chris Fanning, Jr.; special friends, Janie Thomas of Kingsport, Kay Massingale of Talbot and Norma Phelps of Maryville; also, father of her children, Bobby Compton of Huntsville, AL. The family will receive friends Friday, June 5, from 5-7:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville, with the funeral immediately following with Rev. Terrell Boyd, Rev. Willa Estell and Mr. David Hipps officiating. The interment will be on Saturday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Ellejoy Cemetery in Seymour.
