Peter Hayden ''Pete'' Prince

May 31, 1935 — April 10, 2006

Peter Hayden Prince, age 70, passed away at home on April 10, 2006. Pete was an avid hiker, journalist, Rotarian, and historian of former towns in the Smokies. His research led him to meet and interview many area residents for historical books. He was proud of his collection of old documents and photographs. Pete is survived by sons: Michael Hayden Prince of Bean Station, TN: Daniel Melhorn Prince and wife, Susan of Knoxville; and Jonathan Moinette Prince and wife Teresa, of Morristown. He was very proud of his grandchildren Alexus, Hunter, Nash, and Nayland Prince. Other survivors include sisters: Ann Bentley of Chattanooga, TN; Linda Waters of Suwanee, Ga; and Billie Ruth Sudduth and husband, Doug, of Bakersville, NC. He is also survived by brother, Mike Oliver and wife, Judith, of Montgomery, AL. Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home of Maryville, TN. Family visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. A celebration of life service is planned for 6:30 p.m. at Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville with Rev. Dr. Jan Wade and Rev. Laura Shearer officiating.. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon, Central Time, Thursday at Eastern Star Cemetery, Sewanee, TN, near Prince’s birthplace. In lieu of flowers, Pete’s wishes were to have donations made to the Church Street U.M.C., Pipe Organ Fund, 900 Henley Street, Knoxville, TN 37902.
