Penelope Clair (Diehl) Myers, 83, of Louisville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Storypoint Senior Living.

Born to William Randolph Diehl and Nedra Evelyn Bair Diehl, Penelope was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and lifelong learner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Dale Allen Myers.

Penelope is survived by her son, Michael Gavin Myers, daughter, Moya Gabrielle Myers, granddaughter, Julia Renae Crouch, and her brother-in-law, Sam Peters.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Florida State University, a Master of Education from the University of Florida, a Master of Education from Columbia University, and an EDM and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Tennessee. Her career took her across the world, living and teaching in Ocala, FL; Starkville, MS; Gainesville, FL; New York City; Beirut, Lebanon; Cairo, Egypt; and Cedar Falls, IA. After 1977, she and Dale made their home in Knoxville, TN, where she managed the Electronic Document Management System at the Tennessee Valley Authority while Dale directed the English Language Institute and taught Linguistics.

In retirement, Penelope embraced the joys of travel and volunteering, dedicating much of her time to her granddaughter. She was a lover of swimming, yoga, reading, movies and exploring new places, always eager to learn and share her knowledge and kindness with others. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
