Pauline Elizabeth Justice Matthews, age 93, passed away Saturday, June 13, at Asbury Place. Born March 28, 1916, the first of ten children to Lawrence A. and Hattie Isabelle Pollard Justice. In 1937 she married George Wilford Matthews, and they enjoyed sixty-six loving and devoted years together. MorningView Village was her residence for the last eight years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Maryville. Preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Wilford; sisters, infant Nannie Sue Justice, Virginia Cate, Lois “Noogie†Willocks; brother L.A. Justice; sisters-in-law Kathryn Matthews and Rena Huffstettler; brother-in-law Don Matthews. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Tate Paige, Downers Grove, Illinois; Peggy and John Griffitts, Hoschton, Georgia; Brenda Kaye and Stephen Wright, Powell; five grandchildren, Rhonda Paige, Tate (Jody) Paige, Jr. of Illinois; Kimberly (Shannon) Sell and Angie (Joe) Armistead of Georgia; Jenny (Brian) Russell of Knoxville; eight great-grandchildren, Saige, Brynna, and Alexa Armistead; Kate and John Fouts; triplets Brett, Jackson, and Peyton Paige; sisters and brothers-in-law Dot Belt; Mary and Bill Davis, Maxine and Sonny Burnett, Bobbie and John Webb; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Mary Justice; sister-in-law Joann Matthews; brother-in-law Calvin Willocks; numerous nieces and nephews. Heartfelt thanks to the caring workers in Companionship Neighborhood at MorningView Village, to loyal sitter Betty Hurst, and to her dear siblings who visited faithfully with laughter, song, and good cheer. And from Cynthia and Peggy a monumental thanks to Brenda, whose unselfish devotion and care for the last 6 years provided for their Mother’s every need. Services will be at 2:00, Saturday, June 20, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel in Maryville. Family will receive friends at 1:00, with entombment at Grandview Cemetery to follow the service. Reverend Brenda Carroll will officiate.
