HOUK, Paul M., age 91 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church since 1952, was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during World War II in the Phillippines, and received the Bronze Star. He was retired from Bell South with 43 years of service, a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a member of the Maryville/Alcoa Jaycees. Mr. Houk was preceded in death by his parents, William B. and Jemima Lee Webb Houk; brothers, William Hulet Houk, Claude Ernest Houk; sister, Pearl Houk Templin; nephews, Tommy Houk and Gene Johnston; brother-in-law, R. L. Johnston. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Houk; sister, LaVerne H. Creel of Conway, SC; nephews, David H. Templin of Maryville, TN, John Creel of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, Mike Johnston of Maryville, Steve Johnston of Maryville; nieces, Sandie Creel of Myrtle Beach, SC, Cindy Epps of Matthews, NC; several great nieces and great nephews; special friend, Zee Johnston. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Russell officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9-10:00 a.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. Honorary Pall Bearers will be the Wesley Sunday School Class of Fairview United Methodist Church.
