Patricia Gail Mcdougald

Patricia Gail McDougald (Ladner), 69, of Maryville, TN and Arlington, TX, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2019 in Maryville, TN. Patricia had a massive stroke in Sept. 2017 and was supposed to go home then, but God graciously granted us another 22 months with her. Patricia was born in Jackson, MS to Searcie and Lula (Turnage) Ladner on January 29, 1950. Patricia was married to her loving spouse, Tom McDougald, on June 24, 1972 in Jackson, MS at Broadmoor Church and they moved to Baytown, TX after they were married. They raised two children Shanna (Grimes) and Erica (Dixson) and Patricia was a very devoted and loving mother to them both. Patricia went to school to be an elementary teacher and loved working with Special Ed students for many years as a Special Ed substitute teacher in Barbers Hill, TX. Her husband Tom was transferred to Arlington, TX in 1983 and she became a high school cafeteria manager in the Arlington ISD school system, where she retired from in 2014. She was a great manager and was very loved by her peers and workers as well as students and teachers. Patricia never knew a stranger and was always willing to help out anyone in need. Many times, she spent her own money on students lunches so they wouldnt go hungry. Patricia will always be remembered for her love of the Lord, sense of humor, her love of dogs, her support of the local DFW Pug Rescue group, her love of travel, her love of the beach and the pool, her love of fried oysters and gumbo and her beautiful soul. Her grandchildren, Ashlee & Nicholas, were the light of her life. She spent all of her time at softball and hockey games & tournaments, taking them swimming, to the movies and just loving on them and spoiling them. Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Searcie Ladner of Jackson, MS., her mother, Lula Ladner of Jackson, MS., and her sister, Angie Bond (Ladner) of Memphis, TN. Patricia is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tom formerly of Arlington, TX. , now Maryville, TN.; 2 daughters & spouses, Shanna & Sean Grimes of Maryville, TN., and Erica & Keith Dixson of North Richland Hills, TX.; grandchildren, Ashlee Grimes of Maryville, TN. & Nicholas Grimes of Fletcher, NC. ; older brother, Larry Ladner of Pearl, MS and her beloved pug, Zoe of North Richland Hills, TX. Service will be held at McCammon-Ammons Funeral Home, 220 W Broadway Ave. Maryville, TN 37801 in the chapel on July 16, 2019 at 4 pm.
