Otto H. Bass

BASS, Otto Howard, September 5, 1926-September 7, 2006, age 80 of Maryville, TN, went home to be with the Lord after many years of illness. He was surrounded by his wife and family at the time of his passing. He was a loyal and faithful servant of the Lord as well as a loving, dedicated husband, father and friend. He was a member and Deacon of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, also served 12 years as Church Clerk and Treasurer. He was lead carpenter in building Liberty Church parsonage in 1964, as well as the addition to the rear of Liberty Church and Baptistry, front porch and steps. He was instrumental in the building of many structures in Blount, Knox, Anderson, Loudon, Monroe, and McMinn Counties. He was a member and Past Master of Mountain View Lodge F&AM #519, and served as Chaplain for 7 years, was a member of the Building and Grounds Committee for several years. He was a member and Past Patron of O.E.S. Mountain View Chapter #358, a member of the York Rite Bodies, and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Right Mason. Preceded in death by parents, Homer and Sarah (Hembree) Bass; sisters, infant Imogene, Mary Norton, Alcoa; brothers, infant Grayson, Creed of Greenback, Homer Burton, Jr., Union Pier, MI. Survivors include his devoted wife of 60 years and caregiver, Arzadia V. (Webb) Bass; son, Jerry (wife, Reba); daughter, Linda (husband, Allen) Baker, Maryville; grandchildren, Rick (wife, Judy), Steve (special friend, Christie) Fox, Ronnie (wife, Jan) all of Maryville, Stephanie (husband, Kevin) Gumm; great grandchildren, Hannan and Dale Bass, Dylan and Megan Gumm all of Maryville; brother, Joe (wife, Gladys) LaPorte, IN; sisters, Johnnie (husband, Lester) Schubert, Ernestine Robinson, Richmond, IN, Lola (husband Robert) Wright, Bremerton, WA; sisters-in-law, Kathy Bass, New Buffalo, MI, Sue Bass, Maryville; brother-in-law, R. L. Webb; several nieces and nephews. Masonic services will be 8:00 P.M. Saturday with Funeral services to follow in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clifton Hearon and Rev. Fred Tate officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2:30 P.M. Sunday at Liberty Baptist Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Saturday at the funeral home. Special thanks to multiple friends, relatives and neighbors in Blount County and surrounding counties, Blount Home Health, Blount Hospice, Greenback Rescue Squad; special caregivers, Bertha McKee, Richard Chambers, Tommy and Darrell Ray, Charles Vaden, Arthur McMillan, Hoyt Harris all of Maryville.
