Olene Large Cagle

Olene Large Cagle, 92, passed away January 15, 2023. She was born March 18, 1930, in Sevierville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years George W Cagle, parents Sanders Curtis and Dessie Howard Large, and brothers Orton, Otto, and Oll Large.

Survivors include sons George W II (Pat), Curtis (Betsy), Billy (Julie), and daughter Debbie (David) Payne. Grandchildren George W III (Emily) Cagle, Crystal (Cherokee) Price, Tyler (Amanda) Cagle, Jessie (Brian) Johnson, Matthew (Shelby) Cagle, Elizabeth (Jeremiah) Fichter, TC Payne and Tayler Payne. Great-grandchildren Maddie Jo and Jackson Cagle and Rhett Payne. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Olene was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She served on several committees and loved attending Bible Study and Sunday School. She was a member of the Blount County Genealogy group, enjoyed researching family history, authored two books, and loved crocheting, quilting and embroidery. Her greatest enjoyment was providing for her family and those who referred to her as “Mama Cagle”.

Friends may sign the register at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home between 8:00 AM-4:00 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 8:00 – 10:00 AM on Thursday. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Broadway Baptist Church and the service will follow at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Tony Collins and Rev. Mike Chesney officiating. Family and friends will meet at 3:00 PM, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadway Baptist Church Building or Missions Fund, the Alzheimer Association, or UT Hospice.
