Nora Kay (Doodle) Burns

Nora Kay (Doodle) Burns, age 79, of Maryville, TN, passed away Saturday August 3rd, 2019, with her family by her side. She was born November 7, 1939, the only child of the late Earnest Robert (Buck) Davis and Blanche Gamble Davis in the Wildwood Community of Blount County, Tennessee. She grew up the Hubbard Community where she attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She graduated from Walland High School in 1957 and received her Degree in Medical Technology from Maryville College.
She married Charles Edward Burns on June 9, 1962, and following their marriage they moved to Marietta, Georgia. They made a life together in various locations across the United States, including Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma and California, but resided for the longest time in Winchester, TN. She made lasting friends everywhere she lived across the country. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Burns, one son, Robert Thomas Burns, daughter-in-law Rita Ann Burns and two grandsons, Nathanael Jebidiah Burns and Gary Daniel Burns.
Doodle had a warm heart, a happy personality, a wonderful sense of humor and a love for life. She loved her husband, son and family dearly, but also had a very special appreciation of her many friends and a very special love for her two grandsons, Jeb and Daniel.
As her health declined, she often spoke of her appreciation for her friends and she kept her happy outlook on life as well as her sense of humor. The competent and caring staff of the UT Medical Center Palliative Care and Home Hospice team are greatly appreciated by her family.
Family and friends will meet Sunday, August 4th, at 3:30 PM Eastern Time for her funeral service at West Millers Cove Missionary Baptist Church, 308 W Millers Cove Rd, Walland, TN, with interment to follow in West Millers Cove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the West Millers Cove Cemetery Association, 931 E Millers Cove Road, Walland, TN 37886.
