Minerva Able Floyd

FLOYD, Minerva Able of Maryville and Gatlinburg passed away Friday, January 18, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law after a long illness. She was born August 4, 1912 in Townsend, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Sidney Able and Elizabeth Stephenson Able; husband, Lawson E. (Bruce) Floyd; daughters, Gale Floyd Lewis and Toni Floyd Hall; brothers Mel Stephenson, William Able, James Leslie Able and George Eugene Able; sister, Lora Stephenson Sullivan; niece Reba Sullivan Cogdill and nephew Gary Able. Survivors include daughter and husband, Don and Doris Carrigan and son-in-law Boyd Hall; grandchildren, Donna Kidd, David Carrigan and wife Tamra, Dennis Carrigan, Sandra Price and husband Mitch, Vicki Neubert, Linda Childress, Craig Hall; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Lawson Carrigan and wife Amelia, Joshua Carrigan, Christopher Kidd, Stephanie Kidd, Kim McCroskey, Jama Phillips and husband Chris, Devon McCroskey and wife Leighann, David Owens and wife and Whitley Hall; several great-great-grandchildren, great nephews and great nieces and sisters-inlaw Ella Mae Able and Marjorie Floyd. She is also survived by very special friend Gracie McCarter and husband Robert McCarter and family; and special friends of Blount Memorial Hospice, Anne VanCuren, Rev. Willa Estes and Carla, who cared for her so lovingly. She loved people and especially children. She worked many years at Blount Sanitary Laundry and at various dry cleaning establishments in Maryville. She and her late husband lived on Powder Mill Road in Gatlinburg for many years after their retirement. She loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress and ceramist. Funeral services will be 7:30 pm Monday, January 21st, 2008 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Rev. Wayne Owenby officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:00 am Tuesday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:30 pm Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Blount Memorial Hospice,1095 E. Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Maryville, TN 37804.
