Mildred Amerine Harris, 88, went to be with her Lord February 15, 2012. She was preceded in death by husband, Franklin; parents, Homer and Lela Stokes Amerine; brothers, H.G., Jr.; Lonas; Rowan; Kyle; sister, Verona Ellis. She is survived by sisters, Margaret Tomlinson and husband, Tommy, Lela Tinney and husband, Scotty, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends. Her niece, Judy Russell, gave her special care, love, and attention in the last years of her life at Asbury Place in Maryville. Millie was born in Clinton, TN, and lived in Oak Ridge, Knoxville, Nashville, TN; Moberly, MO; Birdsboro, PA, Niverville, NY; Ardmore, OK; Neosho, MO; Madisonville, TN; and Maryville, TN. She graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan Junior College, Athens, and Scarritt Bennett College, Nashville. She directed pre-schools in Oak Ridge, Niverville, and Madisonville. Millie was a talented artist and a very loving person with children, but she cared for all ages. She followed Jesus' teaching to ''care for the least of these,'' making life better for those around her. Loyalty to her Lord and the church was her priority throughout life. Many have been blessed by her hugs. She will be missed by those she hugged and cared for. Receiving of friends: Broadway United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 18 at 12:00, followed by a memorial service at 1:00, Rev. Amy Probst and Dr. Jerry Russell officiating.
