It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mike Connatser on November 20, 2022. Mike was born July 11, 1953, and a lifelong farmer and cattle producer in Maryville, Tennessee. He was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church. Mike established J & M Windy Acres in 1970 farming jointly with his dad and was known for high performing Simmental and Angus cattle. Most recently Mike and Phyllis were known for producing and selling brown eggs all over East Tennessee. Mike started artificial inseminating cattle for Southeast Select Sires in 1974 as a part time technician. He became a full-time employee in 1979 becoming a certified reproductive consultant and receiving outstanding performance in 1995 and Super Achiever in 2004. He retired in 2015 giving the company 40 years company service. He was Blount County Soil Conservation Board Chairman 1994-2002 and Farm Bureau board member. He served Tennessee Simmental Association President for 20 years. He served on the American Simmental Association Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2004. He participated in the Virginia Beef Cattle Improvement Association Bull Test awarded numerous Premier Breeder, Breeder Group, High Sale Order Index, High Station Index, and the North Carolina Beef Cattle Improvement Program Bull Test awarded numerous Top Indexing Award for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lemuel Connatser and Marguerite Thompson Connatser. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Connatser; sisters, Karen Petree, Donna (Jeff) Carroll; son, John Michael (Sierra) Connatser; grandchildren, John Henry, and Charlotte; estranged children and grandchildren, Daniel Connatser, Michelle Fuson, Suzanne Sawyer; stepdaughters, Dawn Hall, Roxanne (Brian) King; grandchildren, Tyler (Caitlyn), Evan, Chelsey, Breyonna, Hunter, and Brooklyn; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, November 25, 2022, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home and the service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Clifton Hearon and Albert Coning officiating. The interment will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday Oak Grove Cemetery, Lake City.
