Michael John Greendad McManus, age 85, of Louisville, joined his beloved wife in Heaven on Saturday, December 22nd, 2018. Relocating from England in 1976 with his young family, he took a job locally in the rubber industry. John made Blount County his home and flourished, traveling the world, mentoring colleagues, and opening factories, including the Schlegel Technical Center in Blount County. He was known for his magnetic personality, generosity, and love for humanity. John had a gift for making people smile and lifting their spirits. He was happiest outside flower gardening, playing cricket or golf, boating on Fort Loudon Lake, or spending time in the Smokies. John was an active member of the Blount County community. He served for many years on the Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of Directors for Blount Memorial Hospital. He was also an active supporter of the William Blount High School band program as a booster. As a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima, he taught Sunday School, was involved in the Dismas House and Decisions Programs, was a member of the Parish Council and choir, and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. John will be greatly missed by so many friends, colleagues, and loved ones around the world.
