Mattie Gertrude Johnston

Mattie Gertrude Johnston, age 98, passed from this life on January 19, 2019 at Morning Pointe Clinton Assisted Living Facility. She was born on June 14, 1920 in Union County and was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Homer Brickell Johnston, elder son Homer B. (and Donna) Johnston, her parents George W. (and Ida) Miller, sisters Estelle (infant), Dorothy (John) Hamil, Carol Ann (Ralph) Law, Juanita (George) Hammond, brothers Bob (Fran) Miller and Jim (Sandy) Miller. Mattie is survived by sons Gary (Pam) Johnston of Melborne, FL, Dan (Susan) Johnston of Alcoa, and sister Betty Hoglen of Baton Rouge, LA. She and Brick had four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The grandchildren are Clint (Jessica) Johnston of Spring Hill, Camran Johnston-Wood of Smyrna, Matt Johnston of Maryville, and Jon Johnston of Knoxville. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m.Wednesday, January 23, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Greg Williamson officiating. The interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
