Mary Lou Palmer, age 90 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Mary Lou grew up in Little Rock, AR, in the same neighborhood as her future husband, Khem Palmer. She received a BA in English Literature from Texas Woman's University and was commissioned an Ensign in the U. S. Navy. She married Khem, and his employment as a mining engineer with DuPont required them to move frequently. Among her loves were books; animals, especially dogs; theater groups; volunteering; and travel to Europe and Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, John L. Fletcher and Dorothy Fletcher Page; brother, John L. Fletcher, II. Survivors include three children: Patti Biley of Louisville, Elizabeth Barto (Sam) of Maryville and Robert Palmer of Maryville; two grandchildren, Benjamin Biley of Milwaukee, WI, and Tyler Barto of Jersey City, NJ. No services will be held. Donations in her memory may be made to ASPCA.
