Mary Katherine Garland

Mary Katherine Garland, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at the age of 82. Born in Maryville, Tennessee, on November 12, 1941, she was a lifelong resident of the area, known for her kindness, strong sense of family, and deep community ties. Katherine was preceded in death by parents Clarence and Pauline Long and brother, Billy Long. 

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Hubert Garland.  Wife of brother Billy Long, Phyllis. Children Tim (Rita) Garland, Teresa (Eugene) Eakens. Grandchildren John Clay (Jennifer) Garland, Aaron (Meagan) Garland, Caleb (Kaci) Eakens, and Eli Eakens. Great grandchildren Drew and Anna Katherine Garland, Porter and Owen Eakens. Special aunts Helen Turner and Mildred Thompson.

Throughout her life, Katherine retired after 31 years from Tennessee Unemployment Security Claims, but it was her love for her family and her unwavering support for her friends that truly defined her. Whether through her love for canning and cooking for those she loved Katherine made a lasting impact on those around her. She was known for her generosity and sense of humor; her presence will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on November 13, 2024 at McCammon-Ammons-Click with a service to follow. Burial will occur November 14 at 3 pm at Kagley's Chapel.

Katherine's memory will live on through the love she shared, and the countless lives she touched.
