Mary C. Moore Sisk, age 100, from Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Jeanne Morris, in Maryville, Tennessee. She was born in Santiago, Chile, South America, the first of eleven siblings. As a young bride, she lived in Kennecott, Alaska, where her husband, James, was employed by the Kennecott Copper Corporation. Their three children were all born during that time. When the mines closed in 1937, the family settled in Knoxville. For many years, Mary worked at the Standard Knitting Mill and eventually retired from there. She loved to garden and crochet, and was a long time and devout member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Moore (1963), and by her second husband, Oscar O. Sisk, (1991), a longtime employee of KUB in Knoxville. She is survived by her children: daughters, Jeanne Morris, Maryville, Tennessee, and Nan Henderson, Farragut, Tennessee, and son, James Moore and his wife Barbara of Atlanta, Georgia; step daughter, Evelyn Blakely of Knoxville; grandchildren, Paul Elliott and his wife Tanya of Powell, Tennessee; Chris Henderson and his wife Eunyoung of Glendale, California; Gail Hale and husband Brent of Greenback, Tennessee, Jimmy Moore and wife Debbie of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Linda Harry and husband Ernie of Atlanta, Georgia; step grandchildren, Steve Blakely and wife Pam of Houston, Texas, and Karen Wallace and husband Lee of Knoxville, Tennessee; eight great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Heritage Assisted Living for four years of loving care that was given to Mary, and to Bobbie and Frank Mary, for their attention to her spiritual needs. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Xavier Mankel officiating. Immediately following the service, a reception and receiving of friends will be held in Henkel Hall at the Church. The interment will be private for family at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice Caris Healthcare, 1475 Simpson Road, Lenoir City, TN 37771.
