Mary Alice Mills Thomas

THOMAS, Mary Alice Mills, age 110 of Clinton, went Home to be with her Lord Tuesday, July 5, 2005. Alice, the oldest of 8 children, was born and raised in Concord, Tennessee. Alice was a lady of small stature, but large in inner strength, who overcame many hardships in her 110 years. She spent most of her adult life in Maryville, Tennessee as a housewife and mother lovingly serving and caring for her family as well as many others. She also loved nature and was known as a special friend to animals and birds. Alice was the oldest charter member of the Martha Washington Chapter 231 of the Tennessee Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Franklin and Martha Mills of Concord; her husband of 44 years, Charles R. Thomas; two children, Edward Thomas and Mary Charles Etheridge and a granddaughter, Alice Lee Etheridge. Alice is survived by a son, John C. Thomas of Ocala, FL; a grandson, James Thomas of Atlanta, GA; a granddaughter, Helen Dykes of Clinton, TN and a sister, Elizabeth Stafford of Lenoir City, TN. Alice had five great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, July 8, from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, 220 W. Broadway, Maryville, TN. The service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with the Chaplain Clay Mulford and Rev. Mark Flynn officiating. The interment will follow in Clark’s Grove Cemetery in Maryville.
