Marvin Bishop Gass, D.D., of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Asbury Place. He graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan, University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Drew Theological Seminary. He was a United Methodist Minister who served the following Churches: Vonore Oakland Walnut Grove; Oakland Calderwood; Student, Drew Theological Seminary; Bulls Gap; White Pine; Chattanooga, Fairmont; Kingsport, Litz Manor; Lenoir City, Trinity; Jonesboro; Maryville; Knoxville, Colonial Heights; Chattanooga, Signal Crest; Elizabethton, First; Newport, First; Blountville, First; Burks, Chattanooga. He retired, 1986. After retirement, he served Bethel United Methodist Church and Binfield United Methodist Church. He was visitation Minister at Fairview United Methodist Church for several years. Survivors include his wife, Ann Pitsinger Gass; son and daughter-in-law, Barry L. and Michelle Gass of Dallas, TX; daughter, Linda Fenton of Atlanta; grandchildren, Alex Gass, Logan Gass, Jason Fenton; one great grandson, Noah Fenton; sister, Gladys Tallent of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Grace Grissom and Frank Evans of Nashville; sister-in-law, Joy Smith of Chattanooga; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Maryville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Brenda Carroll and Rev. Ted Baker officiating. Following the service, everyone will re-convene at Shiloh Cemetery, Pigeon Forge for the interment. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Church Fellowship Hall. All Ministers of the Holston Conference will serve as Honorary Pall Bearers. Memorial donations may be made to Tennessee Wesleyan College, 204 E. College Street, Athens, TN 37303 or Asbury Place of Maryville, 2648 Sevierville Road, Maryville, TN 37804.
