Martha Wilmoth Humber Porter

Martha Wilmoth Humber Porter, age 85 of Maryville, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was born in Cuthbert, GA and was a 60 year resident of Maryville. She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College, Decatur, GA and Clarksdale High School, Clarksdale, MS. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maryville, Chilhowee Club, Mary Blount Chapter of D.A.R. for which she served as Regent and was a life member of the Colonial Dames. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her father, James Flowers Humber, Sr., mother, Mary Richards Humber, brother, James Flowers Humber, Jr., and cousin, Letty Pryor. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Edwin James Porter; daughters, Mary Martha Porter, Melinda Anne Porter Rust and husband Anthony G. Rust; son, James Humber Porter and wife Nancy Bostock Porter; grandchildren, Allison Anne Porter and James Matthew Porter; sister, Anna Humber Little; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Donna and Lee Sellers; special caretaker, Kelli Childress; numerous beloved friends. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Maryville with Pastors Brenda and Larry Carroll and Rev. Dick Richards officiating. The interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Friday at the Church.
