JACKSON, Martha Steele, age 95, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Asbury Place, in Maryville. She joined the love of her life, Maurice, whom she had mourned for 45 years. She was born in Monroe County but lived most of her life in Greenback. She loved to quilt and cook for her family. She was a member of Greenback Memorial Baptist Church until she left Greenback in 1986 when became one of the first residents of Broadway Towers. She was known there for tending her many flowers including outside flower beds. She joined Madison Avenue Baptist Church while she lived in the Towers until 2002 when she became a resident of Asbury Place. Preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Jackson; parents, Sam and Jane Steele; brothers, Larry and Grayton Steele; sisters, Mary Steele, Helen Jackson, Blanche Eidson, Margaret Alexander, and Ruby Charles Fields; grandson, Curtis Wayne Jackson, Jr. Survivors include: sons, Joe Jackson and wife Dot of Maryville, Curtis Jackson and wife Barbara of Lenior City; grandchildren, Beverly Mandrell and husband Tom, Ricky Jackson and wife K.C. all of Maryville, Todd Jackson and wife Corky of Greenback, Moe Jackson and wife Selena of Lenior City; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren Family and friends will meet 11:00 am Saturday, November 24th, 2007 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Greenback for a graveside service with Rev. Ronnie Steele officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
