Marolyn J. Finney, age 85, of Maryville, passed away on March 15, 2016. She was born June 30, 1930 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Olyn Wilson and Olive Babbitt Hammond. A devoted wife and "Alcoa spouse," Marolyn nurtured a loving, caring home for her family in Davenport, IA; Pittsburgh, PA; Richmond, IN; and finally in Maryville. After graduating from high school, she worked as a bank teller in Erie, and later as a bookkeeper for International Harvester in Davenport, IA. Marolyn was an active member of 1st United Methodist Church in Maryville. She volunteered for many years at the Blount Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, and received multiple service awards from the Hospital Auxiliary. Marolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Richard C. Finney (Dick), who passed away only days before she joined him in heaven. She tenderly and patiently cared for Dick at home through the years of his extended illness. A devoted mother and grandmother, Marolyn is survived by three sons: Bruce Finney (Sioux), Scott Finney (Michelle), and Todd Finney (Shaunna); four grandchildren: Stephen Finney, Rebecca Finney, Brandon Finney, Cheyenne Finney and step-granddaughter Whitney Derrick. The family gathered for a private graveside service in Grandview Cemetery on March 16, 2016 to celebrate Marolyn's life. The Rev. Catherine Nance officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holston United Methodist Home for Children (P. O. Box 188, Greeneville, TN) or a charity of your choice.
