Marjorie Malinda (Cotter) Eggers entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, October 17, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Burton Cotter and Sarah Elizabeth Cotter; her sister, Inez Thompson, brothers, Clell Cotter, Bill Joe Cotter and John Harley Cotter. Conley Thompson (brother-in-law), Queenie Cotter (sister-in-law), Gladys Cotter (sister-in-law), And most recently her oldest nephew, Clell Cotter, Jr (Sonny) and her son-in-law, Grover (Sonny) Craven.
Marjorie was born in Maryville in 1927 and lived there until moving to Townsend at the age of 7. She thoroughly enjoyed telling stories of her childhood in the Smokies until the age of 14 when the family moved back to Maryville where she lived until marrying Kenneth Elwood Eggers and moving to Augusta, GA. There were many trips and vacations back to Maryville and she moved back permanently in 2002, where she enjoyed working part time in a day care center and being near family.
She was a loving generous mother and grandmother who enjoyed her grandchildren, her cats and her dog. She leaves behind a daughter, Sara Harlene Craven, son Darrell Elwood Eggers, 3 grandchildren, Jon Scott Craven (Elizabeth) of Indian Land, SC, Bradley Vittetoe of Augusta GA, and Kara Elizabeth Ward (Matthew) of Kingston; 6 great grandchildren, Jessica Craven, Connor Ward, Landon Ward, Olivia Craven, Hunter Vittetoe, and Camden Vittetoe; and her sister-in-law, Ruth (Eggers) Carroll of Maryville, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00 PM Saturday, October 22, 2022, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at East Maryville Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. George Macht officiating.
