Marie Holder Leatherwood, age 96, of Maryville passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Morningview Village. She was a very kind, gentle mother who loved her family dearly. She was a homemaker and really loved cooking and sewing. She would always put others first and try to help anyway she could. She was a member of Carpenters Campground United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Netta Holder; husband of 67 years, Harold Spradling Leatherwood; sister, Irene Holder McSpadden; brothers, Edward Holder, Dr. Tom Holder, Fred Lee Holder, and Bobby Holder.
Survivors include son and daughter in law, Gary and Leslie Leatherwood; grandchildren, Kent (Amanda) Leatherwood and Neal Leatherwood; great-grandsons, Brooks and Reece Leatherwood; sister, Delores Holder Chambers; many nieces and nephews also survive.
The family and friends will assemble for a graveside service at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 14th, at Carpenters Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bill Dixon officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts/memorials may be made to the Carpenters Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
Finally, I would like to personally acknowledge and thank mother’s 24/7 caregivers. You all really became family and treated mother with respect and dignity. You are what extended her life over the past years. You all are true angels of God and thank you for a job well done.
