Margaret Helen Brastock ''Peggy'' Turner

Turner, Margaret Helen Brastock (Peggy)-age 86 of Lenoir City, TN passed away on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009. Born November 7th, 1923 in London, England, Peggy was the second of nine children born to Thomas William Brastock and Helen Robina Ritchie Wright. As a young woman, Peggy served her country during World War II as a member of the British Women’s Land Army. It was during this time that Peggy met her future husband, James Patrick (Buck) Turner- “a Yank” from South Pittsburg, TN who was stationed in England during WWII. On July, 28th 1947, Peggy immigrated to the United States where she married Buck Turner on August 3rd, 1947 in Chattanooga, TN. Peggy was a housewife and mother as well as a talented and accomplished artist, excelling in painting, drawing, knitting, sewing and many other mediums within the arts and crafts. She was also an avid gardener and a voracious reader. Along with her husband, Peggy was a founding member of the Church of the Resurrection, Episcopal in Loudon, TN, where she was a member of the Altar Guild for many years. In mid life, Peggy returned to school to become a dental technician and enjoyed a career working in the dental practice of Dr. Dan Thompson in Lenoir City, TN from 1971 until she retired. During her senior years, Peggy took up line dancing and Tai Chi as new hobbies. Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Buck Turner, Peggy is survived by her daughters Peggy Ann Turner of Knoxville, Lynn Denise Turner and husband Ron Stephens of Maryville, Sherri Lee Turner-Herrmann and husband Nicholas Herrmann of Starkville, MS; granddaughter Amelia Laurens Buffaloe of Los Angeles, CA; sisters Mae Brastock Davis of Coatsville, IN, Kathleen Brastock Bouplon of Gansevoort, NY, Patricia Brastock Chelson of Enfield, England and brother Walter Brian Brastock of Enfield, England. Peggy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She will forever be in our hearts and minds. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Resurrection, Episcopal Loudon, TN, at 4 p.m. on December 4th, 2009. The family will receive friends after the service in the parish hall.
