Lynn L. Snowden

March 9, 1942 — June 16, 2023

Lynn L. Snowden passed away peacefully at his home in Louisville, TN. at the age of 81. Originally, he was a member of Stock Creek Baptist Church until he and his loving wife moved into the Louisville community and became members of Beech Grove Baptist Church.

Lynn worked at KUB in Relay & Test for 43 years until his retirement. He graduated from Porter High School in 1960 and attended Tennessee Polytechnical Institute. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and employee. He loved Jesus and was respected by all who knew him. Many called him “Papaw” or “Old Lynn”. He raised his girls with the Andy Griffith philosophy. If he didn’t know how to do it, he figured it out and then would say “nothing to it”. Most everybody was “youngin” to him. And if he said he loved you, then it was always followed by “a ‘ittle bit”. He enjoyed fishing all around the country with Tellico being his happy place, hunting, bowling, watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports and was certainly a huge UT fan. Lynn and Janice were football and baseball season ticket holders, hosted tailgates for football home games and traveled to several away games to cheer on the Big Orange. If you were ever a guest at a Snowden tailgate, you were sure to hear him say as you were leaving for the stadium “Bring us back a winner!”

Preceded in death by parents, George and Betty Snowden of Rockford, father and mother-in-law, C.J. and Fay Johnson, Jr. of Knoxville, grandson, Jacob Heimerman of Knoxville and brother-in-law Wayne Adams of Knoxville.

Survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice Snowden of Louisville, daughters Stacy Schmidt and husband Bob, Gina Owen and husband Jim, Susan Stout and husband Steve. Grandchildren, Derek Schmidt, Noah Heimerman, Tildon Haynes and wife Sarah, Leland Schmidt, Maegan Helton and husband Chase, Siler Haynes and wife Virginia, Haley Gordon and husband Ben, Anna Long and husband Gabe.
