Luther William Haworth

HAWORTH, Luther William, age 94, departed this life to go home to God on Thursday, September 22, 2005. He died of complications following a heat stroke he suffered on August 16, 2005. He was the oldest active member of Broadway Baptist Church and the Volunteer Sunday School Class. He was very dedicated to God and rarely missed going to Church. He was a loyal employee of ALCOA Aluminum for 42 years, retiring in 1975. He was an avid bowler who inspired those who watched him bowl until his last game on Wednesday, August 10, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ida Haworth; brothers, Robert, Charlie and Troy, and by sisters, Ada and Esta. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Jonnye Frances Crockett Haworth, who is a local dental hygienist. He also leaves a daughter, Iris Codella of Miami, FL; grandson, Mark Meyer of Gatlinburg, TN; sister, Marie Sanders of Maryville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Brown officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
