Luke Calloway Bradley, Jr.

November 23, 1928 — July 22, 2019

Luke Calloway Bradley, Jr. born November 23, 1928 in Monroe County, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Luke held the rank of Master Sargent for the U.S. Air Force and retired after 23 years of service. He proudly served his country with tours of Japan, Korea, Europe, Southeast Asia, and numerous other tours in the continental United States. Post retirement he entered the workforce as a biomedical engineering technician at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Knoxville. After retiring in 1991, he enjoyed camping, Nascar, blue grass music and watching old westerns.

He was preceded in death by his parents Luke Calloway Bradley, Sr. and Amanda Rains Bradley, first wife and sweetheart of 64 years Sallie Mobley Bradley, son James Michael “Mike” Bradley, brothers Charles Alton and James Alvin, sisters Anna Mae Hickman, Mamie Sue Best, and Margaret Payne.

Survivors include: wife, Allegra “Lee” Bradley; sons John (Brenda) Bradley Williamsburg, VA; daughter-in-law Cathy Bradley Levy of Wake Forest, NC; Joe (Terry) Bradley of Maryville stepchildren Gail (Jerry) Fann of Alcoa, Larry Gosnell of Knoxville; grandchildren, Lance, Kelly, Jennifer “Jenny”, Mitzi, Erin, Lee, Gerri Lynn, Guy, Josh, Angela, Jay, Brandan ; great grandchildren Lance II, Natalie, Summer, Nathanael, Griffin, Ella, Carmela; sister Zula Rae Michaud of Brandenton, FL; many nieces and nephews. With special thanks for the many friendships from the Rocky Branch Community Center and The Barn.

The family would like to thank Jerry, Gail, Lorene and Carolyn for the many hours of caregiving. Additionally, the family is appreciative of extra time and care delivered by Luke’s personal friend and surgeon, Dr. Melissa Trekell.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 -8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019, funeral services to follow with Chaplain Mike Mikels officiating. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2019 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.
