Louise Ernestine Carnes, age 85 of Townsend, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She worked at ALCOA during World War II and also worked for Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Carnes. Survivors include her son, Don Carnes of Townsend; daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Jim Myers of Maryville; grandchildren, Richard Carnes and wife Yvonne, Shayna Myers, Saundra Pitts; great grandchildren, Halie, Braden, Kinsi, Sophi Carnes, Sue Pitts; sister, Joyce Headrick; brother, Ronnie Mercer. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church, Townsend, with Dr. Steve Linginfelter and Rev. Darren Wigington officiating. The interment will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church.
