Louis Vernon Cox, Jr., 80, lovingly known to his friends and family as L.V.., departed this life for his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, surrounded by his family. LV was born to the late LV Cox, Sr. and Adeline Simerly Cox, November 28, 1929. He was married to his devoted wife, Martha Elder Cox for 62 years, and had 4 daughters. He retired from A & P Grocery and Atlanta Bread Company, where he met many people who loved, greatly respected, and called him friend. LV was a member of Alcoa First United Methodist Church. LV was preceded in death by sisters, Nell Cutshaw, Alice Tilley, and Floy Tidwell. Left to grieve and cherish his wonderful memories are wife, Martha Elder Cox; daughter, Teresa Breedlove and husband Wayne; daughter, Kathy Burns and husband Larry; daughter, Pam Cox; and daughter, Jennifer Jennings and husband John. He is further survived by four sisters, Mary Sue Tipton, Wanda Gibson, Daisy Thomas, Patsy Hutson. LV is also survived by ten grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to Pastor Joe Green and Bill Shelton, the Sunday Solos and Alcoa First United Methodist Church, and for the kind and compassionate care given by the nursing staff of Blount Memorial Hospice Services. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Green officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
