Lorene Kimbrough

Lorene Kimbrough, 93 of Maryville, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015. Lorene was a member of First United Methodist Church, Maryville, for over 60 years, where she served in various capacities. She graduated from Sweetwater High School and Hiwassee College. During World War II, she worked for the Navy Department at ALCOA. Following the war, she married and later settled in Maryville, TN, where she and husband Joe raised three children: Karen, Joe, and Jan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Grace McNabb; brothers, Charles, Ralph, J. T., and Dick; and her beloved husband of fifty years, Joe. She is survived by her children, Karen and Ray Dunn of Marietta, GA, Joe and Kathy Kimbrough of Louisville, TN, and Jan Kimbrough of Peachtree City, GA; grandchildren, Andrew Dunn of Brooklyn, NY, and Alan and Leslie Horn of Nashville, TN; and 10 nieces and nephews. A special thanks to friend and physician, Mark Green and his staff. Also, thank you to The Cancer Institute, including Dr. James Lewis and many others, at U.T. Medical Center, and to Dr. Patrick Burkhart, Maryville. Lastly, thank you to Blount Memorial Hospice and all who helped care for Lorene at Shannondale Healthcare Center of Maryville. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville, and a memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Catherine Nance and Rev. Sarah Slack officiating. The interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
