Lorene Stinnett Campbell passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Morningview Transitional Care. She was born November 8, 1929 in Cleveland, TN, and was the daughter of the late William Robert (Willie) Stinnett and Polly Ogle Stinnett, who had ten children. All nine siblings (Pearl, Della, Clell, Gentry, Dorothy, Vada, Gerlene, Wendell, and James) predeceased her, along with niece, Patsy Stinnett; nephew, Glen Cogdill; and step-son, Chris Campbell. She is also predeceased by husbands, William C. Hurst, and Gerald M. Campbell, several wonderful in-laws, many loving relatives and friends.
A 1947 graduate of Everett High School, she worked in Chicago, IL for a couple of years when she graduated from high school, but returned to Maryville to work at Proffitt's Department Store for more than 20 years. She retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company.
Survived by four nephews, Bobby (Carol Ann) Stinnett, Ralph (Darlene) Stinnett, Larry (Carolyn) Stinnett, and George "Sonny" Kirby; three nieces/caregivers, Sue (Bud) Williams, Linda Kirby, Judy Pack and their families. She is also survived by five Campbell step-children, Mike (Joanne), Brian, Jerry, Pam (Dan) and Denean(Cordell) and their families; special neighbors and loving caregiver, Heidi (John) Hollis; and caring neighbors for more than 30 years, Ron and Susan Inman and their children, Kathryn & Aaron. A special thank you to Dr. Mark Green, his office staff and Blount Memorial Hospital for providing her excellent care for many years.
Lorene enjoyed traveling, seeing most of the states, including Alaska and Hawaii, and several foreign countries, Israel being her favorite. She and her husband, Gerald, also enjoyed their weekly meetings at the Alcoa Union Hall, picking their guitars and singing, enjoying the fun and fellowship with their special friends, Wayne and Lola Taylor and many others. She also enjoyed attending Morning Star Baptist Church where she was a faithful and active member for more than 60 years, with her special church friends, Barbara (C.M.) Titlow, Estine Justus, Bud Brewster and family, and many more.
The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2024, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 3:00 PM with Pastors Ronnie Buchanan and Danny Jenkins officiating. Family and friends will reassemble following the service at Cold Springs Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment.
