Lora Mae Hughes

Lora Mae Hughes, 93, passed away Tuesday, December 17th, 2013, in Ormond Beach, Florida. Lora Mae was born in Monroe County, Tennessee on Dec. 31st, 1919. Lora Mae was married to William Ervil Hughes who preceded her in death fourteen years ago. Lora Mae worked at Levi Strauss and was a long time member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling to visit with family and loved canning and cooking. Lora Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Rachel M. Bivens and John Jones as well as by her sons, William Ervil Hughes, Jr. and James Ray Hughes. She was also preceded by her siblings, Lizzie Belcher, Naomi Raper, Fred W. Jones, Pauline Corum, Martha Jones, William Charley Jones, Bo Jones, Elizabeth Watson, Irene Gilreath, Nancy Kimbrell, J. Dudley Jones, Elette Bibee, John Jones and Charlie Tilson. Lora Mae is survived by her children, Janice Snyder of Ormond Beach, FL. and Judy Miller of Clearwater, FL. Also, her grandchildren, Rick Hughes of Cleveland, TN, Kim Christensen of Port Orange, FL, Lisa Pangel of Sleepy Hollow, NY, Brett Byrd of Marietta, GA, Greg Davidson, Jr., Choka Miller and Tomika Miller all of Clearwater, FL. She also is survived by her sister, Beatrice Davison of Murfreesboro, TN. She also has thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She lived a long and full life and those who knew her will attest that there will never be another one like her. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Phil Holmes officiating. The interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
