Lawrence Wayne Pierce

Lawrence Wayne Pierce, 76, of Atlanta, GA, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023. Wayne was born April 17, 1946, and grew up in the Ellejoy community in Seymour. He was a 1964 graduate of Porter High School and attended the University of Tennessee before completing his undergraduate degree at East Tennessee State University. After graduation, he moved to Atlanta to earn a degree in Pharmacy from Mercer University. He worked as a pharmacist for over 40 years in Atlanta. He retired from the DeKalb County Board of Health in 2013 with 32 years of service. He was an avid antique collector, enjoyed travelling, especially spending time in Florida, and was a big Dolly Parton fan. He was a loving brother, proud uncle, and devoted friend to many. He was preceded in death by parents, Bob and Bill Reece Delozier Pierce, and brother, Jim Pierce.

Wayne is survived by sister Barbara (Eugene) McCammon; nieces Melinda (Michael) Kelley and Jama Proffitt; nephew Jimmy (Lisa) Pierce; and great-nephews Lucas (Emma) Kelley, Hayden Proffitt, Ethan Proffitt, and Eli Myers; and many cousins. He also leaves behind many dear friends in Atlanta who were like family to him.

Family and friends will meet 2PM Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Knob Creek Baptist Church cemetery (959 N. Knob Creek Rd, Seymour, TN) for a graveside service. Those wishing to leave condolences or memories for the family may do so at www.mccammonammonsclick.com
