Lavetta Carpenter Myers

Lavetta Carpenter Myers, age 89, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at Brookdale Sandy Springs (Sterling House). She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. Lavetta was retired from Knoxville City Schools after 30 years as an elementary teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Myers, Jr.; son, Richard Carpenter Myers; brother, George Dowell Carpenter; sister-in-law, Mary Orr Carpenter; parents, Raymond and Stella Carpenter. Survivors include niece, Malinda Carpenter Boring; great-nephew, Keith Boring; great-niece and husband, Sarah Boring White and Matt White; great-great niece, Lydia Elaine White. The family wishes to express special thanks to all the caregivers at Brookdale Sandy Springs for their love, kindness, and care. Family and friends will assemble Sunday, May 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Carpenters United Methodist Church Cemetery for graveside service and interment with Dr. Jerry Russell and Rev. Betty Furches officiating.
