Lamar Higdon

LaMar Higdon, age 81 of Maryville, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. LaMar, known as Grandad to his grandkids, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He was co-owner of Associated Electric Motor Services, Inc., a company he co-founded, and with his partners, successfully operated for over 30 years. LaMar was a man with a strong work ethic, and an uncompromising sense of integrity. He enjoyed a bad game of golf, spending time with family and watching his grandkids play sports. He dearly loved his time spent at Lake Tansi and the many friends he and Willadean had there. LaMar was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Maryville, and loved his Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his wife Willadean Hall Higdon, parents, John Nelson and Beaulah Margaret Wall Higdon: brothers, Harry and Jack Higdon, sister Merle Millsaps and grandson Noah Lucas Higdon. Survivors include his children: sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Amy Higdon, Scott and Sandy Higdon, son, John Higdon, daughter and son-in-law Sally and Les Spencer. Beloved grandchildren, Maggie Sarah and Jacob Benjamin Higdon, Britney Dawn Landon, Zachary Noah and Abbigale Morgan Higdon, and Lesley Garrett, Alexis Christian, and Sarah Carson Spencer. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel. The interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Grandview Cemetery, Reverend Charles Ballard officiating.
