Kenneth Kyle Abbott, Sr.

Abbott Sr., Kenneth Kyle – age 88, of Maryville, TN, died May 11, 2005, at the home. He was born November 30, 1916, the first son of William P. and Lucy Davis Abbott. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and worked at the Aluminum Company of America in Alcoa, TN, from 1936 until he retired in 1974. From May 14, 1942, to November 30, 1945, he served in the U.S. Army, primarily in North Africa and Italy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest sister, Dorothy Abbott Boswell. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lois Trotter Abbott, with whom he celebrated their 63rd anniversary of marriage on May 1. He is also survived by his son, the Reverend Kenneth Kyle Abbott, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Mary Lindsey Abbott, of Townsend, TN; grandson Thomas Lindsey Abbott of Clinton, TN; and grandson Michael William Abbott of Townsend. Other survivors include three brothers and their wives, James Howard Abbott and Mayme Anthony Abbott of Maryville, William Paul Abbott and Lorraine Swift Abbott of Knoxville, and Richard Lewis Abbott and Margaret Evans Abbott of Maryville; one sister and her husband, Martha Jane Abbott Carter and Kenneth Carter; and many nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville on Saturday, May 14, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 PM by Rev. Kenneth Abbott Jr., assisted by Rev. Brenda Carroll. The interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hiwassee College, 225 Hiwassee College Drive, Madisonville, TN, 37354.
