Katie Newman Schubert

Katie Newman Schubert, age 92, passed away April 16, 2024. She was saved at 21 years old. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, Alcoa, since March 1959, having taught preschool children in Sunday School for 57 years until January 2013. She taught the same class in Discipleship Training for many years, sang in the choir for several years, assistant church clerk for 7 years, then church clerk for 10 years. She served as a greeter for Calvary’s Thanksgiving meal for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse (Dink) Schubert; parents, Hugh and Ida Jourdan Newman; brothers, Hugh, Jr., Frank, and Robert Newman; sisters, Aleen Dunn, Mae Smith, and Helen Glenn.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews of whom she dearly loved.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 pm, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home and the service will follow at 2:30 pm with Rev. Greg Williamson officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Clarks Grove Cemetery.
