MARTIN, KATHRYN WORLEY, of Maryville, TN, age 87, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2007. She was a retired professor of Spanish and French at Maryville College where she taught for 36 years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Winfield H. Martin, and Alice Vernon (Meacham) Martin of Nashville, TN. She is survived by her nephew, Edward C. Martin of Birmingham, AL, two great nieces, Laura E. Zapalowski and Sarah A. Quinney, and a great nephew, Jason M. Martin, all of Birmingham, AL. She graduated from Vanderbilt University, receiving a B.A. degree in 1941 and a Master’s Degree in 1943. During her teaching career, she traveled extensively throughout Europe and Latin America, and was a member of various professional language teaching organizations. She was also listed in Who's Who in International Women, as well as Who's Who in American Women. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2007 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville, TN, with Chaplain Melody Kidd officiating. Miss Martin will be interred in a private family service in Leipers Fork Cemetery, Franklin, TN.
