Kathleen Ann Cox Burns

January 24, 1951 — March 20, 2024

Kathleen Ann Cox Burns, Kathy, was called home on March 20th, 2024 surrounded by those that loved her dearly. She was best known for her love of music, board games, impromptu trips to ANYWHERE but here, and her knack for backseat driving. Nana, a title she wore like a badge of honor, loved her family and friends more than anything, followed closely by a love for ice cream from Burger Master and Dave’s market, any beach, summer, extra pulp in her mimosas, and binge watching TV shows with more than 3 seasons. Kathy spent a lifetime caring for others as a Surgical Tech at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville and then later at Tennova Turkey Creek Labor and Delivery, where she was known for her excellent skills and sense of humor. When she loved, she loved big and if you were lucky enough to be on the receiving side, you knew. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Elder Cox, father, Louis Vernon (L.V) Cox, husband, Larry Dale Burns, and beloved son, David Scott Burns, and sister, Jennifer Cox Jennings. Kathy is survived by her son, Michael; her daughter-in-law, Amy and grandsons, Jared and Zachary; daughter, Lisa Burns Goins and son-in-law, Jason Goins; and grandchildren, Ashlynn, Aaron; and Abby; sister, Pam Cox; and sister; Teresa Breedlove and husband Wayne; Special Friends ( they know who they are)- Her Linda Robert’s Sunday School class at Alcoa First United Methodist Church; Along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many friends. The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to Kathy’s niece and Tn Cancer Specialists nurse, Shelley Breedlove Myers for the most excellent love and care given and for always answering the middle of the night text messages, Our worries were a lot less because of you. To the lifetime friends of Kathy’s that always show up and love her children, grandchildren, and sisters like their own, she was so proud to call you her best friends and you made the hardest time in our lives a little more bearable, we love you! The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. March 30th, 2024 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with a celebration of a life well-lived to follow. Burial service will directly follow at Grandview Cemetery.
