June Rose Johnson Porter

June Rose Johnson Porter- age 93 passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Colonial hills Nursing Center, Maryville, TN. She was a loving mother and grandmother and an excellent cook. She contributed to the World War II effort by working at ALCOA from 1941-1946. She was also an avid sports fan. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and taught Sunday School at both Salem and Vonore Baptist Church. June was the daughter of Guy and Willie (Atchley) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Clifford Porter; her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Ellen Johnson Sheets and Melvin Sheets; a beloved cousin, Betty Jo Huffaker Cabe. She is survived by her only child, Gary C. Porter and wife Martha Everett Porter; one grandson, Greg K. Porter and wife Melissa Roach Porter; one granddaughter, Kyla L. Porter Reynolds and husband Christopher Reynolds. She had one great granddaughter, Aliza Mae Reynolds and one great grandson due in August. Other survivors are sisters-in-law, Helena Porter Schupp and husband George Schupp; Eunice Porter Giles both of Loudon, TN, and Mildred Porter Skidmore of Knoxville. She had several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Dr. Terry Simpson officiating.
