Julie Crossman

Julie Crossman, known to her friends in Grand Rapids, Michigan as Judy, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2012. She was born June 10, 1930 to Wilford and Marguerite Crossman. Julie was preceded in death by her brother, W. Thomas Crossman; she is survived by her brother, Robert Crossman, sister-in-law Barbara Crossman, sister-in-law Linda Beth Crossman; nieces Debbi Raiford Davis, Julie Elizabeth Redden, Carol Honigberg; nephews Jeffrey Crossman and Rick Raiford, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Julie was a 1948 graduate of Central High School, Grand Rapids, Michigan and the University of Michigan in 1952. She moved to San Diego in 1955 to teach English; she resided in San Diego, California for over forty years. After retiring from teaching, Julie love poetry and excelled as an artist. She was Co-owner of the Opal Street Gallery in Pacific Beach with friend and artist Nancy Lees. Julie was an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Maryville Tennessee. Art, reading, and the great outdoors were Julie's interests, which she kept until her death. A celebration of Julies life will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church on Friday, October 12th, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Humane Society of East Tennessee or St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
