Judith "Judy" Ann Jones Ballard Brownlie

Brownlie, Judith (Judy) Ann Jones Ballard, age 81 of Walland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, May 3 after a brief battle with colon cancer. Judy was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a Master Gardener who could name most every flower and tree in this area.  Judy enjoyed nurturing the birds and other wildlife who visited the yard of her Martin Valley home. She and her husband, Rick, loved to travel abroad. Their favorite destination was Cornwall, England where they made many friends and wonderful memories. Judy loved genealogy and helped with the Law family genealogy book that spanned 10 years of research, and she was known for her ability to research the community names in Blount, Knox, and Greene counties.  
Family was important to Judy, but she also valued her friendship with her neighbor, Marion Schlauch, her monthly lunches with her MHS Class of 1960, and spending time with cousins and lifelong friends.
Judy’s legacy will be her children, David and Steve. Stepchildren Ricky, Matthew, Beth, and Andy along with her grandchildren. Lovingly referred to as Granna to Megan, Logan, David III, Eli, Grace, Matthew, Asher, Monty, Kristiana, and Sydney. Aunt Judy to her sister Susan’s children, Taylor, Andrew, and Caroline Best.    
In addition to being survived by her children, she is survived by her only sister, Susan Jones Best.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Elizabeth (Ellis) Jones, first husband, David George Ballard, Sr, and her second husband, Richard Anthony Brownlie, Sr.  
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at McCammon-Ammon-Click Funeral Home in Maryville. Receiving of Friends from 1:00-3:00pm and service at 3:00pm with the Rev. Lisa Blackwood officiating.
